Iowa Valley to begin chancellor candidates interviews soon

Applicants for the position of Iowa Valley Community College District Chancellor are set for Thursday, March 7, by the Chancellor Search Committee.

On Friday, March 8, the Iowa Valley Board of Directors will meet in closed session to discuss the search committee's recommendations for candidates.

Special board meetings will then be conducted over the period March 18-29 to conduct chancellor interviews.

Chancellor Christopher Duree has announced plans to retire and was approved for voluntary early retirement effective June 30. He has served in the post since November, 2009.

The Iowa Valley District includes the south Tama, GMG and Gladbrook school districts in Tama counties and all or portions of nine other counties.

It operates community colleges in Marshalltown, Iowa Falls and Grinnell. An adult learning center is located at the South Tama Partnership Center in Tama.
