Meskwaki Warriors senior, Tori Lasley, signed her letter of intent to attend Southeastern Community College where she will play volleyball next school year.

Family, coaches, teachers, MSS administration, teammates and friends gathered in the MSS gym on Thursday, February 21 to celebrate the occasion.

Lasley is continuing in a sport she once didn't even care for all that much.

"I actually didn't like volleyball until the end of my freshman year and then I started playing club that sophomore year and then I started liking it as I started to get better at it," she said.

Lasley played for the Iowa Rockets and STC Fusion from her sophomore through senior years.

She also played four seasons for the Warriors. She wrapped up her senior season last fall ranked third in the Iowa Star Conference in blocks and ranked fourth in the conference in kills.

Southeastern Community College has campuses in Burlington and Keokuk, Iowa.

"I really like the town. I really want to play, rebuild and start something fresh," she said.

One thing that will remain familiar for Lasley are the school colors. SCC dons red, black and white just like MSS.

The Blackhawks are coached by Michelle Glass. According to the Blackhawk's website, Coach Glass was named the Women's Head Volleyball Coach in 2018 for Southeastern Community College. She hails from Idaho where she coached at Canyon Ridge High School in Twin Falls, Borah High School in Boise and the U17 premier club volleyball team for Club Idaho.

Lasley is ready to get going on her new adventure.

"I'm so excited! I feel like I finally made a good decision this year," said Lasley giggling.

"I can't wait to rebuild this program. We are rebuilding from last year and it wasn't even really that well last year but I feel like we are bringing in good people and are going to have a good season," said Lasley.

Tori is the daughter of Virgil Lasley and Lori Beck.
