Fritz All-American, All-Academic

ROANOKE, Va.- It has been a good freshman season for South Tama alum, Brady Fritz. He just finished his first season with the Wartburg Knights Wrestling team as an All-American and he also received All-Academic honors.

Fritz finished 6th at 141 after a win by 9-7 dec vs. Brendan Ladd (Alma).

The National Wrestling Coaches Association released its All-Academic individuals on Thursday.

Nominees must have at least a 3.2 GPA (on a 4.0 scale) for the previous full academic year. Transfers and freshmen are eligible if they've been in residence at their current institution beginning in the fall of 2018. On the competition side, wrestlers much be a national qualifier in 2018-19 and have a minimum win percentage of at least .500.

Additionally, wrestlers can also be considered if they placed in the top six at their respective regional tournament, a win percentage of .500 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled competition in NCAA championship events. A wrestler can also be considered if they have a win percentage of .670 or better and competed in half of the institution's scheduled NCAA events.

This was the second career honor for Wileman.

Wartburg has had an honoree in every year since 1994

Fritz graduated from South Tama County in 2018. In high school he was a three-time All-State, three-time State Placewinner (second and third twice), Four-time All-Conference and a National Honor Society member.

Fritz is the son of Brian and Diana Fritz of Tama.
