Carol Lee Zmolek

Carol Lee Zmolek, 61, of Tama, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019 at her home under the care of her family and Iowa River Hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019, at 11:00 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will be held at a future date at Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Friends may greet the family on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 9:30 -10:45 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church prior to the Mass, or following the Mass at the Church Parish Hall, where lunch will be served.

Carol was born on November 4, 1957, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Howard and Norma (Doepke) Trautman.

She graduated from Waverly-Shell Rock High School with the Class of 1976. She then graduated with honors from the American Institute of Business in 1978. Carol held various secretarial jobs with the Executive Secretarial Management Degree, mostly with the Iowa Department of Corrections.

On June 14, 1980, she was united in marriage to Mark Zmolek of Toledo at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly, Iowa. She and Mark farmed a family farm in Tama County. Carol was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and working on her acreage. Her legacy is her children.

Left to celebrate her life is husband, Mark of Tama; one daughter, Lindsey (Justin) Bahaj of Kansas City; one son, Miles at home; two sisters, Joyce (David) Lahmann of Sumner, and Lorene Johnson of Waverly; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Anthony Jerry Zmolek; and a brother-in-law, Glenn Johnson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo, is assisting the family with arrangements.
