Trojans host final home meet of season

The Trojans are hitting their stride as they hosted a girl/boy track meet on Tuesday, April 23. For the girls three teams competed including the Trojans, Meskwaki and Twin Cedars.

STC's Stacey Slaven had a meet record in the high jump with a jump of 5'4. The Trojans also set meet and school records in the shuttle hurdle relay. The relay team consists of Jojo Tyynismaa, Stacey Slaven, Gracie Vest and Caitlyn Stochl. Tyynsimaa also broke the 100m hurdle record as well with a time of 15.70 and she took first in the 100m dash with a time of 12.90.

Gracie Vest took first in the 200m Dash and Morgan Haughey took second.

Meskwaki's Shye Johnson came in second in the 400m Dash with a time of 1:08.90. Coming in first in the 400m Dash was Gracie Vest of South Tama with a time of 1:08.72. Windy Blackcloud of Meskwaki took third in the event with a time of 1:13.72.

In the 800m Run STC's Alyssa Chyma finished first with a time of 2:41.64 while Meskwaki's Shye Johnson took second with a time of 2:46.16. Johnson went on to win the 1500m Run with a time of 5:57.85 as well as took second in the long jump. STC's Neena Lasley took second and Meskwaki's Tylen Garcia took third.

In field events STC's Jaycie Rauch won the Discus with a throw of 92'0, Danielle Seymour took second and STC's Sydney Parizek took third. Danielle Seymour took home a first place finish in shot put with a throw of 32'04.75, STC's Shelby Slaven took second and Sydney Parizek third.

South Tama's relay teams swept each relay event.

South Tama won the meet with 95 points followed by Meskwaki with 38 and Twin Cedars with 30.

As for the boys, nine teams were in attendance including Dike-New Hartford who took first, Waverly took 2nd, Grundy Center 3rd, Williamsburg 4th, Cedar Rapids Prairie 5th, South Tama 6th, Waterloo West 7th, Meskwaki 8th and Twin Cedars 9th.

South Tama senior Drake Crawford took third in both the 100m Dash with a time of 11.52 and 400m Dash with a time of 53.08 and second in the 200m Dash with a time of 23.13.

Another STC senior, Keith Keahna, took first in the high jump with a jump of 6'4.

Payton Vest took second in the long jump with a jump of 20'01.50.

Meskwaki's Noah Seymour finished eighth in the 400 M Dash and sixth in the 400m Hurdles.
