South Tama's (2-10) defense had their work cut out for them last Thursday during a non-conference contest with the BGM Bears (4-6). The Trojans defensive woes resulted in a 14-1 win for the Bears.

STC's Ashlynn Ellenbecker pitched for the Trojans for five innings. The Bears managed 13 hits, 14 runs, four of which were earned runs. Ellenbecker had no walks and two strikeouts.

The Bears went to work offensively in the second inning in which they scored seven runs. Per BGM's Quikstats Marian Coover and Kelsey Lint each recorded four hits. The Trojan defense really struggled against the Bears hitting which resulted in several field errors. The Bears landed on base several times due to fumbled balls in the infield. The Bears also did a great job of finding gaps in the outfield.

Pitching for the Bears was Isabelle Austin. Austin, a sophomore, recorded the win giving up just one earned run, walking 5 and striking out 1.

The Trojans did manage to connect some at the plate but BGM's defense caught all the pop ups that STC hoped would drop. STC's lone run of the evening came in the bottom of the third inning when Ellenbecker crossed the home plate off an error by the Bears.
