David Emil Duhachek

On the evening of July 3, 2019, David Emil Duhachek passed away at his home in Loveland, Colorado. At his bedside was Sandra (Duhachek) Phillips daughter and long-time care giver.

David was born October 16, 1930 in Vining, Iowa to Emil and Alyce (Postolka) Duhachek. David grew up on the family farm, graduated from Tama High School, class of 1948, served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War stationed at Camp Pendleton California and later in Korea.

Upon completion of military service David returned to California to marry Betty Skeen from Santa Barbara, California. They honeymooned with a trip returning Iowa and the family farm.

David and Betty were married for 54 years and had 5 children: Barbara (Duhachek) Logue, Sandra (Duhachek) Phillips, Janet Duhachek, Janice (Duhachek) Davidson, and James Duhachek.

In 1980 David retired from farming and moved his family to Loveland Colorado. There he renewed his interest in woodworking and worked at a local hardware store until 1996. During retirement David enjoyed spending time with his family, playing cards, developed an interest in drawing and painting and relaxing with the family dogs.

David is survived by one sister Darleen Husak living in Toledo, Iowa, 5 children, 2 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty in 2007.
