Our Town opens tonight at the Wieting

July 11, 2019
By Anne Michael , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

When theatre-goers attend the upcoming Our Town production at the Wieting, they experience the graciousness of the past. This beautiful theater has been renovated and that renovation is true to the theater as it appeared on its opening in 1912.

It was a gift to the City of Toledo from Ella Wieting, and this community has never lost its appreciation for that gift. Community members raised money to both renovate the theater and later, to build an addition. In 1966, the Wieting was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. To sit in this theater is to appreciate the beauty of the past.

Now the Wieting will open its doors to live theater in the production Our Town. On July 11, 12 and 13t at 7:30 p.m., the curtains will open. People who enjoy theater will not only see an excellent production, but also they will see it a building that is a jewel in its own right. One can only imagine all the performers, who over the 100 years, have walked on this stage. They have left a legacy and that legacy is alive and well today. Enjoy an evening at the Wieting. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for children. They are available at the Lincoln Savings Bank in Tama and the State Bank of Toledo and also at the door.
