Lois Marie Kriegel

Lois Marie Kriegel, 93, of Tama, passed away Monday, July 8, 2019 at UnityPoint Health Grinnell Regional Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama with Pastor Warren Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 9:30 AM until the time of service at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama.

Lois was born on April 9, 1926, in rural Tama, Iowa, the daughter of John and Marie (Schmidt) Timm.

She graduated from Tama High School.

Lois Marie Kriegel

On January 1, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jack Kriegel at the St. John Lutheran Church in rural Tama. They were blessed with two children, Linda and Steven.

Lois was employed at the South Tama Community Schools as a librarian associate where she enjoyed working with the students. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels, was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama, and was a member of the Oak Hill Cemetery Association. Lois enjoyed gardening, sewing, quilting, and crafting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and the many excursions she and Jack went on with Arlo and Virginia Mildenstein. Later in life when in nursing home care, she enjoyed delivering flowers and attending church services with Norma Kriegel.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda (Leo) Wobeter of Vinton; one daughter-in-law, Susan Kriegel of Grinnell; six grandchildren, Jennie Wobeter of Marshfield, WI, Joshua (Brooke) Wobeter of Centennial, CO, Jessica (Mariah) Mauer of Teaneck, N.J., Laura (Eric) Miller of Urbandale, Bruce Kriegel of Grinnell and Emily Kriegel of West Des Moines; seven great-grandchildren, Brielle and Barron Mauer, Avery, Amelia and Everett Wobeter, Tyler and Hayden Miller; two sisters-in-law, Norma Kriegel of Tama and Beverly Kriegel of Marion; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her husband, Jack on May 22, 2015; her parents; one brother, Raymond Timm; one son, Steven Kriegel; brothers-in-law, Walter Kriegel, Bill Kriegel, Arlo Mildenstein; and sister-in-law, Virginia Mildenstein.

A memorial fund will be established.
