Before Judge Mary E. Chichelly in Tama County District Court in Toledo:

Brienne Laree Joy, 38, rural Tama, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of possession of methamphetamine. She was sentenced to a 20-day jail term to be served concurrently with the sentences in two Black Hawk County cases and was fined and assessed court costs totaling $732.

Joy originally was cited in a county attorney's information with of possession of methamphetamine with intent to manufacture or deliver and failure to affix drug tax stamp. the drug tax stamp charge was dismissed.

She was charged on Nov. 28, 2018, in the 2200 block of Meskwaki Road, rural Tama, by Tama Police Officer Neil Firzzell.

In Black Hawk County District Court in Waterloo, Joy was sentenced on May 10 to five years in prison on two counts of 2nd degree theft and two counts of forgery. She was accused of cashing forged checks at a Cedar Falls credit union and attempting bot cash forged checks at a waterloo bank.
