July 17, 2019

Depositing any materials which are not recycleable and not placed in the bins provided at the Tama?County recycling site is prohibited. That's the message from Tama city officials about the violations about the location northwest of the Tama Civic Center at 5th and Harding streets.

Tama Police Chief Jason Bina says "illegal dumping / disposal is a simple misdemeanor and requires for defendants to appear in front of a judge."

Not the first time a warning has been issued, the site not only had electrical devices, a TV tube and a refrigerator but a pair of plastic wading pools.

“Everything but the kitchen sink” is the old expression which seemingly covers what was left at the recycling bin site at 5th and Harding streets in Tama recently. From an artifical Christmas tree to a satellite dish and refrigerator were among the debris littering the area on Monday, July 15. News-Herald/John Speer
