Back to the future, forward to the past!

July 20, 2019

Have you wished you'd done something different? I wish I hadn't crawl down the inside of an outhouse as a kid to retrieve a baseball! (I picked up my bat, glove and fishing pole while I was down there!)

Or have you wished someone else hadn't done what they did? I wished my daughter wouldn't have shoved a lego up her nose, requiring an ER visit. I wished my wife wouldn't have attempted to chase a rolling pumpkin down the street in pajamas. (Neither incident has a believable explanation!)

As a kid, I appeared before a judge with my dad for something I had done. The judge asked me how old I was. I thought he asked me "How are you!" So, I blankly stared him in the face and retorted, "I'm fine! How are you?" I sensed my dad falter backward, like he was going to pass out or die. The judge curtly smiled and let me off with a warning.

Whether we wish to go back to the past and undue the dumb stuff or hope the last dumb thing was "it," there is hope. But the greatest is eternal hope-in Jesus as my Savior. Avoid regrets: Trust Jesus!
