Curtis DeShawn (Shawn) Taylor

Curtis DeShawn (Shawn) Taylor passed away peacefully on July 12, 2019 after battling a long illness. He was 49 years old.

Shawn was born in Cedar Rapids IA. to parents Louie and Tami Taylor and was raised in Tama IA.

Shawn has known the love of his life Cynthia for over 45 years; they were together as a couple for 20 years and were married in 2008. Together they were the owners of FIF Trucking LLC.

Shawn proudly served in the U.S. Army and did his tour of duty stationed in Germany.

He was a long time member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles and the VFW.

His hobbies included golfing, socializing and spending time with all of his family. Blood or not, everyone was considered family to him. He also enjoyed his dogs Kate, Dochas and Banan.

Shawn is survived by; his wife Cynthia Brower-Taylor, loving daughter Anna Taylor, sisters Dana Taylor and Irene Benda (Darin), brothers Butch Taylor (Julie), Toby Taylor (Kim), and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In place of a traditional memorial service, the family will be having a celebration of his life at the Tama VFW. Shawn wanted people not to mourn him, but to remember all of the fun times he has had over the years.
