Lessons we never learn!

August 17, 2019
By Pastor Mike Nodland - Clutier Community Church and Vining Christian Fellowship , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Credit me a slow learner, but there are certain lessons in life we should have learnedbut we don't. I learned not to throw hay forks over my head at red winged blackbirds. That pitch fork's gonna return, targeting you with uncanny accuracy! Brooms don't protect you from bumblebees, either! Been there-done that. If you catch a fish and it breaks loose, good grief, don't go in after it, anyway. Following surgery, Doc told me that if something is too heavy to carry, don't lift it anyway. (Can't believe I actually paid for that piece of advice!)

And here's a freebee, too: when cutting down large trees, they'll always fall in the worst placesno matter where you've parked your truck! And please, leave the plumbing, electricity and auto brake jobs to the pros. It's no use driving to a repair garage with no brakes.

Here's one for the books-specifically, the Bible: no matter how hard you work, it'll never be good enough for Godbecause He's provided you with a better way: His Son, Jesus Christ! You can never earn God's favorbut you can receive His Son, by faith! That's the best lesson you'll ever learn!
