What's Happening at the Wieting?

November 7, 2019
By RLou Snyder , Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

After doing last weeks column I thought I have some more people I could inform you about having performed at the Wieting and have passed on.

Richard Kirchner did many different types of acts on stage. He has also enlisted his two sons Adam and Eric to get on stage.

Richard was the leader of a church youth group that got on stage to help him with the performance.

The record of Ray Steven's swinging about the squirrel that invaded the church by running around and then up the pant legs of the parishioners. All of the youth get in the spirit of there performance.

Another act the group took part in was being the legs of a dragon, being under the dragon and holding the dragon character up in the air while moving to the music and song lyrics sung to Puff the Magic Dragon. Carol Peterie (Matta) made the life size dragon. It was quite a feat these young people pulled off.

A different type of act was put on by the Wieting Theatre Guild. We sang and acted out the song Old McDonald Had A Farm. One of the performers was guild member Barb Crain. She was a goose and her vocal delivery was unbelievably funny. Barb has passed on but we have fond memories of her helping deliver the jokes and act and react to the script. That part is a joke also. What script? Not from this group. Just act, react and roll with the flow.

Thanks for the memories Richard and Barb.
