The South Tama boys varsity basketball team (0-11) hosted Benton Community (4-6) for a WaMaC Conference Contest on Tuesday, January 14.

The Trojans opted to slow down the speed of the game and played much of the first half quite controlled on the offensive end. The efforts held the Bobcats to just 14 points with the Trojans close behind with 10 points.

STC hung with the Bobcats through the third quarter. Benton scored nine points and South Tama scored six points. Tyrin Lasley led the evening with eight points total and also had the most rebounds with five.

However in the fourth quarter things unraveled for South Tama. They couldn't stop Benton's attacks defensively and they weren't able to put more than three points on the board. Senior Blake Osborn led the Bobcats with 11 points and seven rebounds.

The final results had Benton winning 34-19.

Games scheduled for Friday, January 17 were postponed due to weather. They are rescheduled for Thursday, January 30.

The Trojans will be on the road this Friday evening to Center Point Urbana. Their next home game is Tuesday, January 28 against Clear Creek Amana.
