Wants sales tax off for food naks

February 27, 2020
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

Letter to the Editor:

Currently we are among 4 Iowa Food Banks currently paying $250,000 annually in sales tax on material items we purchase to feed Iowans (such as fork lifts, pallet jacks and other essential items). The resulting $250,000 would amount to 1 million more meals able to be distributed across Iowa.

Together, and with the help of The Iowa Food Bank Association and three other Iowa Food Banks, we are requesting the public's help is supporting our efforts to secure sales tax exemption for Iowa food banks, by encouraging Iowans to:

A. Sign our petition at and share it

B. Call State legislators and encourage them to support passing Food Bank Sales Tax Exemption.
