Harold L. Croskrey

Harold L. Croskrey, 98, of Tama, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. A Graveside Service will be held Saturday, March 7, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Oak Hill Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Friday, March 6, 2020 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.

Harold was born on December 4, 1921, in Toledo, Iowa, the son of Henry and Mabel (Turner) Croskrey.

He graduated from Tama High School in 1941.

Harold served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II spending time in Brazil.

He worked in Denver, Colorado at the airport from 1945 until 1946. He then returned to Tama and worked at Packaging Corporation/Central Fibre from 1947 until 1983 in the Maintenance Department. Harold was a member of the American Legion, VFW, and Hiram of Tyre Lodge AF&AM. He enjoyed reading, collecting stamps, golf, and previously raised mink.

Survivors include two nieces, Connie Perna of Sante, CA, and Pat Cooper of Toledo; two great-nieces, Heidi and Meadow; and one great-nephew, Vincent; and other cousins and relatives.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one sister, Jean Hodges; and his step-father, Dale Hardon.

Memorials may be directed to the Tama American Legion or VFW.
