South Tama students perform at Kiwanis

March 22, 2020
Toledo Chronicle, Tama News-Herald

At the March 11 meeting,Toledo-Tama Kiwanis members were reminded of the Golden Achievement banquet on March 17 at the Country Club. This event honors outstanding middle school students.

Also, they were told that the membership drive is underway. Letters explaining Kiwanis and encouraging recipients to join will be sent out this week. Even those not receiving a letter and who wish to be a part of this worthwhile kid and community-centered group are welcome. They should contact Larry Fletcher or Meghan Thiessen.

John Legg introduced the program. It was another outstanding student performance under the direction of Dixie Forcht. The actors were Luis Avalos and Kobe VanDee.

Pictured l-r are Dixie Forcht, Kobe Van Dee, Luis Avalos and John Legg.

They performed A Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. It is a powerful study of a child who lives in the world of autism and a father who struggles to handle his son and his son's world.

Luis and Kobe's performance earned them straight I's at state competition and justly so. The Kiwanians were amazed at the talent of these young men.

Credit must also go to their coach, Dixie Forcht, as it takes a great director to elicit a great performance.
