Quilts of Valor are presented to local veterans

Members of the Central Iowa Quilt Sew-ciety honored eight Tama County veterans at a Quilt of Valor presentation held at the Tama -Toledo VFW Hall on March 5.

Honored were Kelly Buckley, Navy - Desert Storm; Bob Reinbrecht, Army-WWll /POW; Kim Banes Army-Enduring Freedom (War on Terrorism); Vietnam Army Veterans- Rollie Haynes, VFW Commander Mick Lenhart, Joe Anderson and Mike and Gary Tomas.

CIQS, a member of the National Quilt of Valor foundation has awarded 238 veterans from Marshall and Tama counties since fall of 2015. CIQS members at the presentation were Marvis Drew, Denise Starits, Susan

Lawyer of Marshalltown Cheryl Kupka, Cheryl Pansegrau of Tama and

Melody Bro of Montour. The group meets monthly at the Trinity Lutheran

church in Marshalltown on the first Tues. of each month starting with

snacks at 5:30. A program is held at each meeting. Persons interested

or engaged in quilting are encouraged to attend.
