Tama Police warn of telephone scam

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Dialing telephone area codes 809, 284 and 876 can cost plenty - Tama Police say the charge will be the incredible $2,425 per minute.

A scam involving calling a number with one of these area codes just surfaced in Tama. Tama Police issued a CodeRed telephone alert about this on Friday.

AMA Foundation honors STC grad Aaron Kithcart, PhD

CHICAGO (SPECIAL) - Aaron Paul Kithcart, PhD, a student at the Ohio State University College of Medicine, has been named a recipient of the American Medical Association (AMA) Foundation's 2010 Leadership Award.

He is a 1999 graduate of South Tama High School and is the son of Luanne Kithcart, Tama, and Keith Kitchcart, Toledo.

Seats still available on bus to casino meeting

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Supporters of the license application for the proposed Prairie Hills Resort - Casino at Tama can get a free bus ride to the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission meeting at Johnston next Tuesday, March 23. The bus will depart from the Tama Civic Center, 305 Siegel, at 8:30 a.m.

TAMA NEWS-HERALD - Chelsea's 287 residents no longer have to drive the 12 miles to Tama-Toledo or seven miles to Belle Plaine for fuel. Visitors to town or travelers passing through en route to Holiday Lake who run low on gas are no longer in danger of being stranded. And truckers hauling grain to and from the local coop or delivering goods in the area can now get diesel for their vehicles.
