Adam Andersen brings diverse experience to his new role as the local State Farm Insurance agent here. He took over the long-time agency at 128 East High St. in downtown Toledo on May 1.

“Helping clients prepare for their future and protecting what they have,” is how Andersen sees his role. He says he uses his previous experience “which has “really prepared me” while still admitting,

“There’s some things you can’t just learn, you have to get in there and do it.”

The Andersen State Farm Agency is a full-line insurance firm providing vehicle, fire, life, health, long-term care and commercial coverage.

Also available is retirement planning services, banking and investments.

The Andersen Agency is one of only a handful of State Farm agencies in Iowa which offer mortgages.

Also representing the Andersen Agency are Darcy Smith and Deanne Greider, both multiple insurance line representatives.

With Andersen, the trio has over 25 years experience in the industry.

Adam Andersen joined State Farm in 2004 as a homeowner adjustor doing property claims in his native nebraska for five years.

For the past three years he had been based in Cedar Rapids working as a business consultant to agents in 28 State Farm offices.

There’s been extensive remodeling at the TToledooffice with new “l-shaped desks with hutches” replacing a counter and desks in the outer office, new carpet and other improvements.

Andersen grew up on a hog farm located seven miles west of Onawa, Iowa, on the Nebraska side. He received a B.A. in Criminal Justice and an M.A. in Forensic Science both from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Lincoln.

With his wife, Tracy, the family has purchased a home on McClellan Street in Tama. She is a nurse in the cath lab at Marshalltown Medical and Surgical Center. the couple have two children, Addi, 7, and Averie, 5. They are members of the Methodist Church and new members of htheTama-Toledo Area Chamber of Commerce.

When not working, Andersen is busy with family activities and runs in marathons nandhalf-marathons.

With his Nebraska heritage, Andersen has fondness for something iidentified as “Cornhuskers.” He even ventured he might start an “Iowans for Nebraska” organization locally, but that was likely a tounge-in-cheek proposal.
