Officially Lions
Relaunched local club celebrates swearing in of new members
In July, the South Tama Lions Club had a big meeting that made the revitalized club official. After years of not having a local Lions Club, some locals got together last year to bring it back. The event in July attended by Lions members from all over Iowa made the new generation South Tama Lions Club official.
Supper was eaten, stories were told, and a desert versus desert contest was had. Tama County Sheriff Dennis Kucera and Toledo Mayor Brian Sokol were among the community leaders who attended the event. Each spoke briefly on how the Lions Club could help the community in different ways.
After being sworn in, all members signed the official charter one by one. Officers from president to tail-twister were adorned with their official Club pins. Finally, a banner was gifted to the club, kicking off what is hoped to be years of good work.
