What to know from Monday’s Tama city council meeting
on February 20th, 2023
A contract from Snyder & Associates (S&A) on the City of Tama’s Water Treatment Plant Project was approved to add an additional filtration system and a reverse osmosis (RO) treatment. There is a mandated 90-day pilot by the Iowa DNR to be approved for construction.
S&A has also been approved to construct additional storage space for the Public Works Building.
S&A is preparing a contract for replacing the culvert between the railroad tracks and 3rd street, along with repairs between 3rd and 5th Street.
S&A has received a set of preliminary plans for a review of Highway 64 4-lane conversion and compiled notes for the Iowa DOT. The DOT is planning on opening bids in July.
S&A has a tentative schedule to begin pavement of the 2022 Street Reconstruction in May.
S&A will begin repairs of the Lincoln Highway Bridge on April 15, with 90 days to complete the project.
The Council set a public hearing for the proposed property tax levy on Feb. 27 at 5:30 p.m.
A budget approval hearing is set for March 11th at 5:30 pm.
The council is creating plans for Tama Beautification in preparation for RAGBRAI. They approved the purchase of new garbage cans and await details on repainting and replacing bulbs on lamps downtown.
Claims totaling $54,557.17 from 2/7 to 2/20 were approved.
