The South Tama Class of 1968 will hold its 45-year class reunion on Aug. 2 and 3, 2013. Back then, it was known as the Tama-Toledo High School. There were 182 names on the senior class list printed on the back of the Graduation Program.

These students began their school careers by attending the elementary schools in Chelsea, Montour, Tama, Toledo, and the Meskwaki Settlement. Some students attended St. Patrick’s School in Tama.

After the school district consolidated, these students, as 7th graders, were divided up and were bussed to Toledo, Chelsea, and Montour. There was no 7th or 8th grade in Tama. For 9th and 10th grades, they were finally all under one roof at the Toledo school. They next moved to the Tama High School (aka Tama Intermediate/now known as the Partnership Center) for 11th and 12th grades. In March 1968, this class moved into the “new” high school where they hold the honor of being the first class to graduate from that building.

This Reunion Committee has always included classmates who may have moved away during school, or dropped out. It has mailed out 190 invitations for the reunion. It should be noted that 26 members of this class have passed away. There are currently five classmates that they have no addresses for: Arlene Blackcloud, Marilyn Blackcloud, Josephine Posekany Degrease, Teresa Roberts, and Georgette Sanache.
