“I’ve wanted to [wrestle] since I was little because my dad did. Now that I actually get to do it, it’s really cool. I was too scared to do it with the boys. I feel like we have a good team, good coaches [and] a really good environment to be around. I feel pretty good [about the season]. I haven’t been pinned yet, but I’ve lost two matches by points. I just learned what I needed to do better."

“I think I’m going to have some pretty good competition this year, so I’m excited. There are some tough girls I’m going to have to go against, like Bella Porcelli [of Southeast Polk] and Breanna Peach [of Marengo]. I’ve wrestled those two–and I think it will be a good match if we wrestle again, [but] I’m not really worried about any matches. [My personal goal] is to place at state."

“I’m really excited. I want to see what’s different about it [compared to] boys wrestling. I feel pretty good [about our past two meets]. The season is definitely going better than last season already. [I want] to have a better winning record than a losing record.”

“[As team captain], I’m on a team with the most experience. It’s just a learning experience for this first all-girls team. I’ve been on an all-boys team for the last two years, and a lot changed. Practices are a lot different when we are split, and [the] atmosphere is different. My summer training paid off. I wrestle year-round [and] I just need to put what I’ve done all summer and apply it now."
