Last Friday, a multitude of community members gathered around the Tama County Abstract Company. Under the bright afternoon sun, Jim Roan stood in front of the east wall of the Abstract Company building. Mr. Roan started out his little speech by thanking many locals who played a part in the remodeling of the wall.

The path to the day’s events started a couple of years back with the sudden collapse of the building sharing the east wall. After years of work, the wall was repaired and has received an upgrade in the form of a mural. Local husband and wife artist team Eric (Ro) Rosario and Jenny Rosario spent weeks working around the clock to paint their masterpiece before RAGBRAI hit town.

At Friday’s event, Tama County Abstract Company President Dr. Michael R. Mickelson officially cut the ribbon to dedicate the mural to the community. Both Tama’s Mayor Brian Hanus, and Toledo’s Mayor Brian Sokol, as well as many of the communities’ public figures and workers, attended in celebration of the beautiful mural.
