Meet the trio running for Tama County Supervisor District 5

Kupka, Utterback, Van De Walle all seek Republican nomination

The 2024 primary election in Iowa will take place on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.

Ahead of the June 4 Primary Election, Tama-Grundy Publishing reporter Ruby McAllister sent questionnaires to all candidates running in contested races for the Tama County Board of Supervisors including those running for the Republican nomination in District 1, District 3, District 4, and District 5. This week, the newspaper is featuring those running for the District 5 GOP nomination: Lonika Utterback, Curt Kupka, and Steve Van De Walle – all of Chelsea.

District 5 is a large, mostly rural district covering the southern portion of the county including Meskwaki Settlement, Montour, Chelsea, Vining, and Elberon.

One candidate filed in District 4 for the Democratic primary race, Bruce Lenhart of Tama.

The winner of the June 4 Republican primary will run in the General Election on Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2024.

The office of Tama County Supervisors District 3 is a four-year term.
