STC Class of ‘69 holds 55-year reunion
TAMA-TOLEDO — The South Tama County High School Class of 1969 celebrated its 55-year milestone with a reunion on Sept. 20-21. A total of 67 individuals attended the events with 47 being classmates.
Those attending from out of state included: Becky McComas Sarabia, California; John Cox, Sam Thiessen, Jim Roeder, Colorado; Kathy Cook McClannahan, Gary Lenhart, Larry Lyon, Florida; “Kate” Cathy Vale Van Eycke, Illinois; Becky Jacobsen Strahl, Minnesota; Mike Musgrave, Nebraska; Mark Hlas, Texas; Jeanne Gettle Larson, Emily Lyon Hansen, Wisconsin; and Rich Rund, Texas.
Those attending from other countries included foreign exchange student, Lara Juliusdottir from Iceland and classmate Dennis Stanley from Crete. Other Iowa attendees included Lynne Avery Dolash, Tom Beck, Jon Boston, Ron Bradley, Judy Butler, Cindy Dvorak, Cathy Fiesel Durkop, Tom Fetter, Julie Hardgrove Downing, Karla Hill Stanze, Nancy Holladay Scudder, Bruce Lenhart, “Mick” Mike Lenhart, Susan Linville Hughes, Jackie Moore Wacha, Tom Moundson, Steve Nekola, Frank Pastorino, Ann Paustian Vokoun, “Deet” Deanna Ridout Kupka, Karla Rutledge Nekola, Dennis Scudder, Larry Sieck, Veryl Sievers, Lloyd Smith, Steve Strellner, Tom Tesar, Dennis Wacha, Mary Jane Walker Fetter, Bruce Weir and Kent Wiese.
The main event occurred on the evening of Sept. 21, with a gathering at the country home of Veryl and Diane Sievers. Social time began at 4 p..m. followed by a buffet supper at 6 p.m. Earlier in the day there was golfing and touring of the Wieting Theatre and the STC High School. A meet and greet was held late Friday afternoon at Lucky’s with some attending the STC Homecoming game afterwards.
The class wants another reunion sooner than five years and it is tentatively planned for the third Saturday in September of either 2026 or 2027.
