Iowa Valley Grinnell partners with Toys for Tots to spread holiday cheer
GRINNELL – Iowa Valley Grinnell announces its partnership with Toys for Tots. From now until Dec. 13, they will be accepting donations of new, unwrapped toys for children in need this holiday season.
Toys can be dropped off at IVG, 123 Sixth Ave. West, Grinnell. Campus is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those with questions, can call 641-236-0513.
“We are thrilled to be a part of this meaningful program and give back to our community,” said Barb Hall, IVG Phi Theta Kappa advisor and IVG faculty. “The holidays are a time for joy and giving, and we hope our students, faculty and staff will join us in spreading cheer to local children.”
Spearheading this local Toys for Tots effort is the IVG Phi Theta Kappa organization and Gunsmith faculty member Matt Ostrander, a Marine Corps veteran who served from 2002 to 2014, retiring as a Captain.
“Having been involved with Toys for Tots during my active-duty service, I understand the profound impact it has on children and families,” said Ostrander. “I’m excited to volunteer my time and encourage others to help bring a smile to a child’s face this Christmas.”
Toys for Tots is a 76-year national charitable program run by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. The program collects and distributes new, unwrapped toys to children in need, bringing them happiness and hope during the holiday season.
