Man charged after alleged break-in, vehicle theft at Iowa Premium sewer treatment plant

An Omaha man was arrested Thursday night after allegedly using a vehicle to gain entry into the Iowa Premium Beef sewer treatment plant in Tama and subsequently stealing a company vehicle.

According to a press release from the Tama Police Department, officers were called to the scene at 7:53 p.m., the suspect, 42-year-old Joshua J. Osborne drove a vehicle through a garage door to gain entry into the Iowa Premium building and then left a car at the scene. The stolen vehicle was located in the 2000 block of 335th Street, and Osborne was found inside a residence at 10:54 p.m.

He was subsequently transported to the Marshalltown hospital and then taken into custody at the Tama County Jail. Osborne was charged with burglary of a building, burglary of a vehicle, second degree theft of a motor vehicle, two counts of first degree criminal mischief, eluding, OWI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Toledo Police Department, Tama County Sheriff’s Office, Marshall County Sheriff’s Office drone unit, Iowa State Patrol, Iowa State Patrol aircraft, Tama K-9 unit and Tama EMS all assisted at the scene. As of Saturday morning, Osborne was being held in the Tama County Jail on a $20,000 bond with a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 13.
