Tama man faces multiple charges after high speed chase

A local man was arrested and charged with multiple offenses last Wednesday after allegedly leading a Tama police officer who attempted to pull him over on a high speed chase.

According to a criminal complaint, Officer Logan Andrews ran the plates for a parked vehicle belonging to Bostyn Richard Doyle, 22, of Tama, at the intersection of 4th and Jackson Street and determined that he did not have an active driver’s license. When Doyle drove away, Andrews began to follow him, and it was then that the suspect allegedly began to drive at a high rate of speed.

The officer eventually attempted to initiate a traffic stop, and Doyle is alleged to have left town southbound on Highway 63 and surpassed 100 miles per hour, still managing to stay ahead of Andrews when his patrol vehicle topped out at 124. Doyle is alleged to have driven west on E69 before turning north onto T47 and parking at a rural address on F Avenue. When Andrews located the vehicle to see if anyone was inside it, Doyle allegedly came out of a nearby shed.

The officer held the suspect at gunpoint before taking him into custody. It was determined that no one was living at the property where he had parked his vehicle. Doyle was charged with OWI — second offense, reckless driving, speeding, eluding — 25 over speed limit and no valid driver’s license. He was released the following day on bond.
