On Wednesday, April 16, both Tama and Toledo Fire Departments responded to a fire east of Tama, just off Highway 30. A controlled burn had gotten out of hand due to wind and dry conditions. Tama Fire Chief Richard Jiminez stated that firefighters got in front of the flames and made a fire break to quell the fire. A local farmer stepped up to help during the emergency as well by doing some discing.
