Patricia Murty
Patricia Murty, 81, of Tama, passed away Friday, August 3, 2018 at Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama under the care of Hospice Compassus. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 7, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, August 6, 2018 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.
Patricia was born on December 18, 1936, in Corwith, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Isabelle (Baylor) Doughan. Growing up, Patricia helped raise her sisters and brother.
She graduated from Titonka High School in 1955.
In January of 1979, she married Lawrence Murty at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama.
Pat started driving school bus in 1964 and from 1976-1998 she drove for the South Tama Schools. In 1976, she started working as a secretary at Murty’s Repair. Pat also worked on the family farm most of her life. She was a Past President of the Eagles Auxiliary in Tama. Her hobbies included gardening, sewing and reading. Pat enjoyed bowling for many years and she also liked visiting the casino. Most of all, she loved her family and attending their activities.
Survivors include her husband, Lawrence of Tama; her children, Janet Berger (Jill Toner) of Toledo, Julie Berger of Tama, Karla (Todd) Sebesta of Toledo, Jim (Jackie) Ebersole of Bentonville, AR, and Jeff (Vicki) Ebersole of Toledo; her grandchildren, Krystal (Nick) Peshel, Sierra Berger (Justin Jacobi), Kayla Eberhart (Mike Skyberg), Kaitlin Berger, Jaelin Berger, Andy Sebesta, and Cara, Jack and Jonathan Ebersole three great-grandchildren, Naomi and Nohlen Peshel, and Myles Jacobi; one brother, Richard (Karen) Doughan of Waukee; one sister, Betty (Marv) Janssen of Hampton; her step-children, Anita Gunter, Dana Hanus, Penny (Carl) Blink, Bill (Margaret) Murty, Steven Murty, Robin Murty and their families.
Preceding her in death were her parents; twin sons, John and Joseph; and one sister, Cara Ebersole.
A memorial fund will be established.
