Robert Paul Steuhm

Robert Paul Steuhm, 82, of Tama passed away Friday, September 14, 2018 at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny under the care of Suncrest Hospice. A Memorial Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Maple Grove Cemetery in rural Tama with Rev. Dewey Grimes officiating. A Celebration of Life Gathering will follow at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Tama.

Robert was born on May 1, 1936 in Tama, Iowa, the son of Carl and Libbie (Vojtech) Steuhm.

He attended South Tama County Schools.

Robert served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years during the Korean Conflict.

On August 4, 1962, he was united in marriage to Cherry Louise Elliott in Missouri. Robert was a truck driver and also a carpenter as well as other occupations over the years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed working in his shop, boating, and fishing.

Survivors include children, Derb Cherry of Riverside, Jeff (Karin) Wheeler of Washington, IA, Tim Steuhm of Amarillo, TX, Dawn Steuhm of Tama, Monica (Diego) Ospina of Ankeny, and Kelby (Alyssa) Steuhm of Grimes; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carleen Corum of Tama, and Karen Jo (Gary) Myers of Marshalltown; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Cherry on November 10, 2016; his son, Robert C. Steuhm on December 23, 2017; and one brother, Ronald “Butch” Steuhm.

Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
