Born on December 10th, 1923, in rural Tama County near Garwin, she was the only daughter born to Lawrence and Velma (Hall) Beck. She received her education in the area of her birth and graduated from the Garwin High School. RueJean was raised in the Carlton Brethren Church which was founded by her grandpa Hall. She started her young working life as a homecare provider for a doctor’ family and later also worked at Marshalltown Manufacturing in addition to farming with her husband. No matter what job she had, it was completed with pride and a strong work ethic.
On August 18th, 1942, she was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clifford Hill, in Kirksville, MO. The young couple made their home east of Gilman where they farmed. Mrs. Hill was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Gilman as well as the AMVETS (serving as past president). She and Clifford enjoyed retirement years at Oakland Acres playing golf.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters: Beverly Ann Hill of San Francisco, CA and Paula (Al) Schulte of Cedar Rapids, four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; her daughter-in-law Sheila Hill of Frisco, TX; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In death, RueJean rejoined her beloved Clifford who passed away in 2006, her son Clifford, Jr., her parents and three brothers- Ralph, Roger and Robert.
