Frances C. Ford
Frances C. Ford, born May 23, 1925 passed away on December 20th, 2020 in Redondo Beach, CA.
Born in Tama, IA to Sam and Dena (Olson) Chantland, Frances was preceded in death by her loving husband of 42 years, Warren who passed in February 2003.
She was sister to Gilbert, Arnold and Gladyce Strellner (dec. 2013). A caring aunt to many nieces and nephews, with cousins from around the globe, Frances loved her family dearly. In her early career, Frances worked as one of the first female domestic radio controllers. Later moving to CA to work for Disney, until she went on to finish her career with the State of California, retiring after 28 years.
A passionate supporter of El Camino College, the annual ECC Foundation scholarship award presentations were her greatest joy. She served as a YMCA volunteer and Red Cross member, most notably aiding in the 1984 Olympics. Frances served in multiple roles as a dedicated member of PEO, Chapter H.
Her discreet generosity and thoughtfulness were a cornerstone of her life. An avid traveler, she and Warren made lifelong friendships with those they met on their travels. A gifted writer, story teller and memory maker, Frances enjoyed sharing tales of her family, travels and experiences.
She had an infectiously positive attitude that will be greatly missed.
