Eldon ‘Osh’ Bennett, 78
Eldon ‘Osh’ Bennett, 78, of Toledo, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Eldora Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Eldora, Iowa, from Brain cancer.
Osh, as he was known by family and friends was born in rural Tama, Iowa, June 22, 1944, to the late Raymond and Leona Kucera Bennett. Osh, was a SGT in the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1966-68. After returning home from the service, he went to trade school in Omaha where he worked at a diagnostic center. He was a member of the Tama V.F.W. Post 6607.
Osh came back to Tama and was owner and operator of the Stadium Club in downtown Tama and Bennett’s Auto Salvage out on the family farm.
Osh was known for his Free Spirit. He loved to be outside fishing, having a night on the town, also loved playing cards and shooting pool with his friends.
Preceded in death besides his parents were two sisters, Janice Bartacheck, and Judy Formanek. One brother, Gene Bennett.
Left to cherish memories of Eldon are three daughters: Lorie (Tony) Gaydos, of Vanceburg, Kentucky; Brittany Blocker and Crystal (Marc) McCollister, both of Toledo, Iowa. One son, Robert (Barb) Bennett, of Toledo, Iowa; One brother, Gary (Guy) Bennett, Toledo, Iowa. Grandchildren: Amanda Gaydos, Matthew (Denise) Bennett; Dr. Andrew (Kathryn) Gaydos, Marissa Bennett and her fiance, Dominic Sorrentino. Brennon and Ruby McCollister, Rayden, Makaela, Makinzie and Charles Hill. Great grandchildren: Julia Clark, Clyde Robert and Ray Everly Bennett. Sam, Auggie, Gianna & Henry Gaydos. Along with his nieces, nephews and other family and friends who will mourn his passing.
Private Military graveside services will be accorded by the Tama V.F.W. Post 6607 at Haven Cemetery Tama, Iowa.
A celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at the Tama VFW Saturday, June 24, 2023, from 1-3 pm.
