Audrey Babinat

Audrey Mary Babinat was born April 22, 1937, in Dunkerton, Iowa, daughter of Hugh and Dorothy (Meier) Fettkether. She attended Don Bosco in Gilbertville. Audrey married Siemon J. Babinat September 20, 1955, in Gilbertville; he preceded her in death on April 3, 1991. She was a farm wife on their farm in Traer. Audrey went to work at Sunrise Hill Care Center, where she retired. She was a Gold Star Member and a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Audrey passed away on Monday, May 27, 2024, at Sunrise Hill Care Center, at the age of 87. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Gerard and Don Babinat; two granddaughters, Melissa Babinat and Elizabeth McKinney and a brother Jerry Fettkether.

Audrey is survived by her five children, Geralyn (Jaimey) Shilling of Promise City, William (Sandy) Babinat of Traer, Florence (Daryl) Hanus of Traer, Glenn Babinat of Cedar Rapids and Bernard (Maria) Babinat of Richmond, Texas; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and her six siblings, John (Mary) Fettkether of Waterloo, Clarice Weber of Manchester, Jim (Karen) Fettkether of Raymond, Lou Fettkether of Denver, Colorado, Karen (Ron) Hall of Waterloo and Dorothy (Jim) Sadler of Cedar Falls.

Visitation: Tuesday, June 4, 2024, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Overton Funeral Home, 714 First St., Traer.

Funeral Mass: Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1102 Walnut St., Traer.

Burial: St. Paul’s Catholic Cemetery
