Clyde Papakee Jr.

TOLEDO-Clyde Papakee Jr., 66, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at Premier Estates of Toledo. A Traditional Wake will be held Wednesday Evening, June 12, 2024 at the Eagle Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama. Traditional Graveside Services will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 2:00 PM at McIntosh Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement in rural Tama.
Clyde was born on December 15, 1957, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Clyde and Geneva (Poweshiek) Papakee Sr.
He graduated from Marshalltown High School in 1976.
Clyde enjoyed visiting and teasing with his family and friends. He also enjoyed cheering for the Kansas City Chiefs, listening to his police scanner, watching Rocky and Godzilla films and the Hallmark Channel, going to the Meskwaki Casino and attending pow-wows.
Survivors include brothers, Brian (Autumn) Papakee, and Lamont Papakee both of Tama; four sisters, Clydene (Adolph) Bear, Alicia (Odie Oldbear) Papakee, Kelly Johnson, and Karena Johnson (Demetrious Wanatee) all of Tama; his close friend, Dr. Jack Moseley of Iowa City; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; three sisters, Lori Lynne Papakee, Tracey Lynne Papakee, and Monica Sue Papakee.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
