Lawrence Brezina

Lawrence J. Brezina, age 90, of Rural Tama County, passed away on June 17, 2024, in Toledo, Iowa. He was born on February 20, 1934. He moved to the farm in 1938. Lawrence was a loving husband to Doris Brezina and a cherished father to Rick Doty, Diane (George) Queck, and Tina (Rob) Forbes. He is also survived by 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Donna, and several nieces and nephews.

Lawrence had a passion for farming, caring for animals, gardening, fishing, camping, and playing cards. He was known for his talent in rebuilding things and creating yard ornaments from random objects. His love for preserving food from his 3 large gardens was a testament to his dedication and hard work. Lawrence also enjoyed restoring the tractors he grew up farming with.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Tillie Brezina, a sister Blanche (Emil) Cibula, a sister Helen (Leslie) Kasel, a brother Charles (Marble) Brezina, a brother Milvoy (Martha) Brezina, a sister Irene Julia Dolezal, a brother Rudy (Helen) Brezina, a brother James (Darlene) Brezina, a twin brother Lester Brezina, a granddaughter April, and his first wife Margret.

A private graveside service was held at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. The arrangements are being handled by Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, Iowa. The family gathered at Jamie Snyder’s home to celebrate Lawrence’s life. Lawrence will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones.
