Ezra Oliver Seymour, “Wanbli Na´ca” Sicangu, an enrolled Rosebud member, was born to Marion Roberts and Damon Oliver on April 10, 2001, in Marshalltown, Iowa. On July 10, 2007, Ezra and his sister Ninajean were adopted by Norman “Storm” Seymour and Cheryl Fleener-Seymour, of Tama.
Ezra is a 2019 graduate of Meskwaki Settlement School. During his youth and throughout school Ezra was involved in Band (he played percussion), Drama Club, Speech, Basketball, Bowling League, Golf, Track & Field, Art and Geography Club. After graduation, he was among the first group “the Wandering Warriors” (which included his siblings, Noah, Danielle and Addie) to travel abroad for seventeen days touring seven countries on a European Tour. His favorite country was Switzerland, but he was really impressed with the art and the architectural designs throughout the tour. Ezra tried to maintain a serious “stoic” look, but that was only an image, he had a kind heart, a huge smile, and a laugh that was contagious. Ezra was an artist, his hands were a gift of talent from his paintings, to his beadwork, to braiding hair, and tattooing. He taught himself how to braid hair, and he would practice various styles on his little sister Quora, who he truly loved. He created beautiful lanyards, he put a lot of thought into each one, picking out the beads, matching colors and coming up with the intricate design. His favorite was the Peyote stitch, he felt it allowed him to be more creative. He purchased a tattoo kit unbeknown to his mom, and he was tattooing himself and his siblings. Ezra loved going on walks, watching Tik Tok videos, having a good laugh, listening to music while beading, and his family. He would always say “that’s crazy” or “I was thinking about that” and “aye”. One of his favorite artists is Billie Eilish, and he was planning to attend her concert this fall with his sisters, Ninajean and Zaidyn. Ezra was most recently employed at Hardees in Toledo.
Ezra is survived by his parents, Norm and Cheryl, his siblings, Danielle, Noah and his son Erys, Addie, and her children Azariah & Aladius, Nathaniel, Zaidyn, Liam and Quora of Tama, and Ninajean, her partner Felipe Hernandez and their children Piper & Rey of Chicago.
