Sydney Culbertson

MONTOUR-Sydney Jade Culbertson, 15, of Montour, passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at home due to a sudden illness. Funeral Services will be held Monday, September 23, 2024 at 9:00 AM at the South Tama County Community High School, 1715 Harding St, Tama. Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Montour. Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, 2024 from 2-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama.

Sydney was born on November 24, 2008, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the twin daughter of Jason and Melissa (Williams) Culbertson.

She was a sophomore student at STC High School and was involved in band, speech, fall musical, Thespians and choir. Sydney was also taking a college class at Marshalltown Community College. In her spare time, she loved to draw and be with her dogs, Dizzy and Larry. Sydney was employed at Hardee’s and Subway, both in Toledo, and also helped at Williams Manufacturing in Tama.

Survivors include her parents, Jason and Missy Culbertson of Montour; her twin sister, Whitney Culbertson, and siblings, Carter, Kiley and Kelsey Culbertson; grandparents, Tom and Debbie Williams of Montour, John Culbertson of Toledo, and Rene and Chuck Thompson of Tama; great-grandma, Sally Mason of Toledo; one uncle, Matthew Williams; one cousin, Andrew Thomazin; and several other cousins, aunts and uncles. Sydney was looking forward to becoming an aunt next month.

Preceding her in death were her great-grandparents; and aunt, Shelly Thomazin.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established.
