Hans was born on January 5, 1938, in Bucholz, Germany, the son of Karl and Marie (Schroeder) Moeller. He told many stories and remembers WWII as a young boy. Hans went to baking school as a young man. Hans first came to America in 1961 and lived with his sister, Irmgard. He was drafted into the U.S. Army as a German citizen. He served two years in the U.S. Army and spent much of his time in Germany baking. Hans came back in 1963 to Traer, Iowa. In 1965, he married Linda Bradley and they opened the Tama Bakery. Hans proudly became an American Citizen in 1982.

Hans loved soccer and bridged the gap with a soccer team-The Twin City Kickers in the Tama-Toledo area. The soccer team traveled to his homeland of Germany in the summer of 1979. In return, a German soccer team traveled to Iowa twice. Hans enjoyed baking and the daily coffee group in downtown Tama. Together with his wife and children, he ran the bakery for forty-two years. If you walked into the bakery, you may have heard him singing German songs or telling a joke.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of fifty-nine years, Linda Moeller of Tama; daughter, Julie Marie Junker of Omaha, NE; son, Karl Walter (Doreen) Moeller of Tama; three grandsons, Bradley of Marshalltown, Kyle and Erik both of Omaha, NE; one great-granddaughter, Valerie of Tama; one great-grandson, Kayden of Albion; Karl and Doreen’s grandchildren, Adam, Colter and Layne of Wellsburg, and Autumn, Aubrey, Austin and Piper of Millersburg; one sister, Gisela in Germany.
