Thomas Novak

Thomas Bernard Novak died on September 23, 2024 after a lengthy battle with depression.

Tom was born in Waterloo, Iowa to Bernard and Doris (Novotny) Novak. He graduated from South Tama School in 1973 and attended Hawkeye Tech for auto body. Farming was his heart and soul. Tom farmed with his dad from 1973 until 1998. He enjoyed custom bailing. In 1998, Tom started driving trucks for Tama County and he retired from there in September of 2021.

Tom enjoyed bowling with the guys and deer hunting. He was quite the prankster and very quick witted. Tom was always willing to help family and friends. He was married to Nikki Plowman on October 10, 1987 and they resided on an acreage north of Toledo.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents: Doris and Bernard; brothers: Ron and Bob; sister-in-law: Mary Novak; father-in-law: Richard Plowman; brother’s-in-law: Bruce Plowman and Joe Alexander and niece: Stacey Alexander and nephew: Dustin Plowman.

Tom is survived by his wife: Nikki; brother: John; sister: Anita (Dennis) Bohnstengel; mother-in-law: Ruth Plowman; sister-in-law: Jan Alexander; brother’s-in-law: Mike Plowman, Brian (Tammy) Plowman and Dotty Plowman and many nieces and nephews.
