Marvin Stochl Sr.
TAMA-Marvin Allen Stochl Sr., 87, of Tama, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2024 at MercyOne Des Moines Medical Center. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Tama. Visitation will be held Monday, November 25, 2024 from 5-7 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home.
Marvin was born on October 6, 1937, in Vining, Iowa, the son of Anton and Mildred (Banes) Stochl.
He graduated from Toledo High School.
Marvin served his country in the U.S. Army Reserve.
On June 2, 1962, he was united in marriage to Ann Timm at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Tama. Marvin was a farmer for most of his life. He also worked as a carpenter for Amwood Homes in Toledo, ran bulldozers for Nick Kriegel and Hubert DeSchamp, and collected scrap metal.
Marvin liked collecting and fixing antique tractors and went to the Old Threshers Reunion at Mt. Pleasant for over sixty years. He enjoyed deer hunting in his younger years, and feeding the farm cats and racoons, and going to the casino.
Survivors include his wife, Ann of Tama; children, Lori (Mark) Bonnell of Boone, Debbie (Dan) Fetters of Montour, Marvin (Spring) Stochl Jr. of Tama, Mike (Amy) Zeman of Tama, and Danielle (Jose) Rangel of Toledo; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Martha Stochl of Toledo, and Phyllis (Joe) Dufour of Salisbury, NC; and brother-in-law, Steve (Jo) Timm of Toledo.
Preceding him in death were his parents; two sons, Allen Stochl and Mark Zeman; and daughter, Jamie Stochl.
