TOLEDO-Lois Ruth (Rairdin) Chaska, 80, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. Private Family Services will be held at a later date. Lois was born April 6, 1944, in Perry, Iowa, the daughter of Floyd Donald and Margaret Emily (Loughry) Rairdin.
Lois and her family moved to Toledo in 1952. She graduated from Toledo High School in 1962.
On April 14, 1963, she was united in marriage to Kyle Glen Chaska in Toledo. Lois was a stay-at-home mom until spending twenty-three years working at Fareway and Doyle Pharmacy. They lived in various communities until retiring in 1999 in Toledo.
Lois was active in the communities where she lived. She served on library boards in Corning, Lenox, and LeGrand, the LeGrand City Council and one term as the Mayor of LeGrand.
Lois enjoyed time with family and friends. There were few dull moments when Lois was around. She also enjoyed time with her pets. Travel and outings were her favorite activities, as she loved to be on the go.
Lois is survived by her husband of sixty-one years, Kyle of Toledo; three children, Lynne (Gareth) Davies of Charlotte, NC, Burton (Tracy) Chaska of Nevada, and Brad (Toni) Chaska of Tama; eight grandchildren, Emily Allison of Los Angeles, CA, Kati Allison of Jacksonville, FL, Sean Allison of Pittsburgh, PA, Kyle (Torri) Chaska of Bondurant, Dalton (Andie) Vest of State Center, Alana (Dylan) Heetland of Ankeny, Marissa (Dan) Grunz of Ramsey, MN, and Mason Chaska of Andover, MN; two great grandchildren; and one brother, Jim (Bev) Rairdin of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Donald Rairdin, and Dean Rairdin; and brother-in-law, Karol Chaska.
A memorial fund will be established.
