Scott Youngbear

TAMA-Scott L. Youngbear, 67, of Tama, passed away, Saturday, March 1, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown. A Traditional Wake will be held Sunday, March 2, 2025 at the Bear Clan Ceremonial Building on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama. A Traditional Graveside Service will be held Monday, March 3, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Meskwaki Cemetery on the Meskwaki Settlement, rural Tama.
Scott was born on March 11, 1957, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Joyce Kapayou and step-father, Eugene Kapayou.
He attended South Tama Schools. Scott was previously employed as a welder.
Scott enjoyed watching gambling shows, Sci-Fi movies and playing slots at the casino. He was a computer guru and loved to tinker with computers.
Survivors include his son, Michael Adam (Elizabeth) Youngbear; daughter, Muriel (Jeremiah) Youngbear; grandchildren, Savannah and Michael Jr. Youngbear, Kodiak and Kira Drum; brothers, Owen (Sandy) Kapayou, Cameron Kapayou, Leland Morgan, and Dale Blackcloud; sisters, Gina Kapayou, Roni Kapayou, and Dixie Kapayou; adopted mom, Jackie Lasley-Ferneau, adopted dad, Nathan Bear; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding him in death were his step-father, Eugene Kapayou; mother, Joyce Kapayou; and brothers, Jack Kapayou, and Eugene Kapayou Jr.
Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home, Tama-Toledo is assisting the family with the arrangements.
