It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Virginia Rose Betz, who departed this life peacefully on March 11, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. At the age of 82, she left behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and unwavering love that will be forever cherished by those who knew her.

Born in Pensacola, FL, on July 14, 1942, Virginia was the beloved daughter of Ernest and Vesta Bodie. From an early age, she possessed a warm and giving spirit, touching the lives of many with her deep love for God and family–a devotion she carried throughout her life.

Virginia married the love of her life, LeRoy Betz, and together they built a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her home was a place of warmth and comfort, where family and friends gathered to share stories, meals, and the joy of her company.

She dedicated her life to her family, her church, and her career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, offering care and compassion to those she served. Whether through her professional calling or her quiet acts of kindness, Virginia’s presence brought light to those around her, and her impact will not be forgotten.

Virginia is lovingly remembered by her children, Wm. Keith Betz (Brenda) of Tama, Charles Betz of Tama, April Bogue (Don) of Toledo, and Angela Jones (James) of Grinnell. She was a proud grandmother to Dustin Betz (Celeste), Brittany Betz-Plowman (Derrick), Jason Bogue (Samantha), Gavin Bogue (Kristal), and Levi Bogue, and a beloved great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind many cherished cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy (1995); her three brothers, Eutaw, Denver, and Harris; and two sisters, Wyoma and Georgiann.

Though she has departed from this world, her memory will remain in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

A visitation will be held Sunday, March 16, 2025 from 2-5 PM at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama where family and friends will gather to honor her remarkable journey.
