Just Jonathan: My journalistic inspiration
I never thought I would be voluntarily writing, let alone someone publishing my work. I never applied myself in high school, I was much more concerned with running in circles and soaring over the top of a band with my instrument of choice, the trumpet. Some may know I took a gap year and re-evaluated my life. Throughout this year many crazy events have transpired. The craziest may just be the start of my journalism career. As I write this very piece, I’m reminiscing on who I look up to most in my new life as a local newsman.
In an ever deep field with immensely talented storytellers, one man stood atop all others. My journalistic inspiration is Ron Burgundy. Many are unaware Ron was born and raised in a small town in northeast Iowa by the name of Hagglesworth.
Ron’s career has spanned decades, starting out on KVWN in world famous San Diego, later moving to New York and quickly becoming the top anchor of the world’s first 24/7 news channel GNN. Nowadays, Ron occupies his time by co-hosting the Ron Burgundy Podcast, a product of iHeart Radio.
I would never dare compare myself to the legend that is Ron Burgundy, but I strive to bring his signature classiness to the Tama-Toledo News Chronicle.
Stay classy Tama-Toledo.
